A template library you keep

Checklists, trackers and logs for legal hold, data mapping, early case assessment, ESI protocols, collection, review, privilege logging and production. Word and Excel files you adapt to your own matters.

Practice, not just lecture

Every module pairs a narrated lecture with an interactive exercise and a short knowledge check that explains each answer.

A decision you can defend

Each module comes back to one test: could you defend this decision to a judge? The capstone has you audit an inherited matter and answer it yourself.

About the course

Electronic discovery is where much of the day-to-day work of litigation happens, and where the most expensive mistakes get made. This course follows the full lifecycle as it is actually practiced: when the duty to preserve attaches, information governance and legal hold, early case assessment, meet and confer and the ESI protocol, collection, processing, document review, technology-assisted review, and production. The first half builds the legal framework, including what happens when preservation goes wrong. The second half applies it to the work itself, stage by stage. Every module includes an interactive exercise and a short knowledge check, and eight add a checklist, tracker or log you can adapt for your own matters. It closes with a capstone: an inherited matter to audit end to end and a post-mortem to write. All matters and documents in the exercises are constructed teaching material and should not be cited or used as templates for an actual legal matter.

About Samir

I'm Samir. I hold a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law and spent roughly seventeen years in immigration practice, including founding and running my own firm. This course grew out of the questions that come up once someone has to actually run a hold, scope a collection or sign off on a production rather than just define the terms. I built it around a single test, whether a decision could be defended to a judge, because every step of the process eventually has to answer it.
